Woodborough Bridge Club are celebrating their biggest local charity fundraising sucess to date, having raised an incredible £1,100 for Headway Nottingham through their annual Charity Bridge Drive!

72 wonderful, local players turned out to test their skill, patience and to raise money for our essential services.  Familiarised with our work through friends who have been supported by us previously, the club were compelled to bolster our work and make a difference to more local people who have experienced the devasting effects of their brain injury, or that of their loved one.

Woodborough Bridge Club Secretary, Jane Hall explained:Charity Bridge Drive Winners

"We chose Headway this year as we knew of the organisation from the experience of a few users and their families some of us knew. We were delighted to be able to raise a reasonable amount for Headway Nottingham.  The enthusiastic short talk by Rhiana Lakin was excellent and the references to playing bridge much appreciated; it brought the devastation of an acquired brain injury clearly home to us".

The amazing total raised by the players will be used to ensure we continue to provide vital rehabilitation in a safe and uniquely understanding environment.  Regardless of how their brain injury is sustained, we will continue to make a difference to local people, who are struggling with life-changing disabilities.

Jane continues:

"Woodborough Bridge Club started running fundraising events a few years ago.  We wanted to raise money for local charities because over the years we have successfully raised funds for the club in order to invest in the latest electronic equipment. This equipment makes it possible for us to run  large duplicate events that are also compliant with the English Bridge Union's rules."

Thank you to everyone at Woodborough Bridge Club for your generosity and your wonderful support!
