Are you in receipt of Personal Independence Payment or Employment and Support Allowance as a result of your brain injury?

In response to wide-spread controversy surrounding PIP and ESA assessments, national brain injury charity, Headway - the brain injury association (UK), is seeking the views of those with experience of the assessment process to complete their survey.  Findings will be presented to The Work and Pensions Committee in response to their inquiry 'ESA and PIP assessments - are they working well?'

If you receive or have applied for one or both of these benefits in the past two years, Headway UK would like to hear from you. This includes those who have applied and are currently waiting for a decision, and those who are in the process of appealing a decision.

“For the past few years, we have called repeatedly for improvements to be made to both PIP and ESA assessments, " said Luke Griggs, Director of Communications at Headway UK.

“Given the volume of calls to our helpline, or pleas for support from Headway groups and branches across the UK, it is clear many people will have a very simple – and categorical – answer to the question of whether or not the assessments are working.

“It is vital that we take every opportunity to speak up for people who are being unfairly treated as a result of the complexities and often hidden and fluctuating nature of acquired brain injury.”

Survey responses received by 6 November 2017 will be used for the Select Committee report, but Headway UK will continue to collect information after this date as part of a wider campaign to improve the benefits assessment system.
