Local brain injury support charity, Headway Nottingham is urging businesses and friendship groups to wear their silliest Christmas hats to bolster their services for people with brain injuries throughout Nottingham.

The charity's efforts to support the community have continued throughout the pandemic, albeit online, by telephone and post, and have made sure that no local person has faced this frightening time alone.

Whilst the need for their service continues unabated, the team at Headway Nottingham are seeing a significant dip in voluntary donations and funds that might usually be raised through supporter's Christmas events.  Rhiana Lakin, Headway Nottingham's Fundraiser explains:

"All the team at Headway Nottingham feel incredibly fortunate to have weathered the COVID storm up to this point. So many of our community live alone, and even those who receive regular care to meet their practical needs have been reliant on our welfare and response work over the last few months. The drop in our income we're seeing over this Christmas period could leave our service in jeopardy in a few months time, but we fully understand that our community is facing profound and scary financial uncertainty.

"Getting involved in Christmas Hats for Headway is a really accessible and fun way for workplaces and friendship groups to contribute to our member's much-needed support and rehab opportunities in the future. A silly hat, a suggested donation of £2 and some social media engagement is all you need to take part! As well as raising vital funds, Hats for Headway will raise awareness - helping Nottingham people find us sooner if they need us, and promoting local businesses along the way. We can't wait to see what hats our amazing community has in store for us! We all need some silliness in our lives as we wave goodbye to 2020!"
