  1. About us
  2. Our impact

Our impact

It’s not just about Headway helping me with my benefits (of which I had no understanding), it’s about ME.  It’s about “my life now”; it’s about all aspects of my well-being, mentally and physically.  Without Headway Outreach and Day Centre where would I be right now?  Probably sitting in my house with nothing to say, no interests and still not accepting what happened to me.  Instead, I love my new life.  My lights have switched on and I enjoy everything.

It's sometimes difficult to measure the impact a service likes our can have, brain injury is such a vast and varied thing.  Our over-arching measurement is the satisfaction of our clients and their families.  How they feel about our service will tell us how well we are doing and if we can do any more.  However, to give you some idea about how we impact people's lives, read on.

Day Centre Statistics

  • Each week we support 86(approx) clients in our Day Centre
  • Each month we give telephone and email advice to 50(approx) people newly experiencing the effects of brain injury
  • Each year we provide over 5000 workshop and activity places to our clients - read more about one of our innovative rehabilitation activites, Dramatherapy here

Outreach Statistics

Each year the Outreach Worker

  • receives approximately 60 new referrals
  • handles 132 benefit interventions
  • arranges 38 trial days at the day centre

Client Feedback

Out of those Headway Nottingham clients who participated in a recent survey...

  • 100% felt "supported in their care"
  • 89% felt "more independent as a result of attending the Centre"
  • 100% rated the service as "Good" or "Excellent"

Client Quotes

"The staff truly care about our well-being and interests and try to help as best they can with any problems they come across"

"They were the only people who understood how I felt and the symptoms with my head injury… I think they are wonderful and are needed badly by the people of Nottingham."

"Understanding brain injury was the biggest challenge I faced.  I became increasingly frustrated, this effected my sleep and stress level.  The Headway team taught me how to deal with all of the above… [I have] a much better and guided understanding of how to deal with my injury and emotions.  This was also a benefit to my wife as she also struggled to cope... I feel confident that I can always call on the team."
