Jo Samples, 50, from Clifton is a carer for both her daughter and husband and has been supported by Headway Nottingham since discovering their rehabilitation centre five years ago.  Despite being the only long-term brain injury day centre serving all of Nottingham’s city and county, Headway Nottingham’s hub is now at risk as it faces a ‘perfect storm’ of funding cuts and reduced fundraising income over the last year. Whilst I was a full CPL in the RCT (Army) one of the duties I performed was to volunteer for the Gulf One Campaign. It was there that I had an acquired brain injury. I lost some very good friends, some of those I was responsible for as I was a section commander.     Referrals

    At Headway Nottingham we accept referrals from all sources, be that a self referral to a referral from a professional health or social care worker. Once the referral is made we will make contact with the individual or their carer and work with them to formulate a suitable plan of progression.

    Brain injury doesn't just affect the person living with the condition, it also affects those around them. Family, friends and loved ones also have to adjust to life after brain injury and it can be very difficult.
