Rushcliffe's new Mayor, Councillor Christine Jeffreys has chosen Headway Nottingham as one of two chosen charities of the year!

During her year as 'first citizen' of the Borough, Mayor Jeffreys will attend many official engagements, using the opportunities to reach out to the community as well as raising funds and awareness for Headway Nottingham and the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance. 

Speaking at her inauguration ceremony, Mayor Jeffreys said:

"It is a great honour and humbling experience to represent over 114,000 people across the Borough, it's awesome.

"I want to reach out to so many of the lonely people in our communities and engage with as many people in the Rushcliffe community and raise money for the charities.

"The Air Ambulance provides such a crutial service to those who's lives are at risk or in danger in emergencies and Headway make a huge difference to those who have suffered brain injuries. They are two wonderful causes for which I hope I can raise as much as possible."

This year marks the Cotgrave Ward Councillor's second term as Mayor, having accepted the role in 2007/08. 

Headway Nottingham's Services Manager, Charlotte Leask said:
